Okay, okay, okay. So this blog post mightttt be for the elders hehe- but for those who have heard the term “boudoir” and don’t know what exactly it is, I’m here to explain!

Pronounced “Boo-Dwah” or “Boo-Dwar”, A boudoir photo shoot is a type of photography session that focuses on capturing intimate, romantic, and sensual images of a woman in a tasteful and artistic way. It is usually done in a private setting, such as a bedroom or bathroom, and can involve the subject wearing lingerie, a gown, or other clothing that makes them feel comfortable and confident in front of the camera. Boudoir photography has become increasingly popular in recent years, as more people are embracing their own beauty (yass!) and feeling empowered by their experience.

Boudoir Photography used to get a bad rap, as many people (especially the older generation and men), misconstrued the purpose of this session. It’s not meant to be for other’s consumption (if you can read between the lines here), and is meant to remind the woman just how far she has come in her self-love journey physically and emotionally.

                                                   

The goal of a boudoir photo shoot is to create stunningly beautiful images that make you feel beautiful and confident in your own skin. We will typically discuss your desired look and feel before the shoot, and may ask you to bring items that help create your desired mood. This can include items such as jewelry, hair accessories, or even props. Want to wear a matching bra and panty set, and then an oversized sweater for your second set? Heck yes! Did I mention you also receive guides- cause we don’t leave you hanging over here! The guides will go over all of your wardrobe options, so you’re not left scrambling! During the shoot, I will direct you on how to pose and may provide subtle guidance on how to express yourself in the photos. We want you to be yourself! 

At the end of the session, I’ll show you anywhere from 50-100 images. I LOVE seeing the anticipation rise as I’m about to hand a client the iPad! Sometimes I get squeals, and others take a few deep breaths. By the time you come in, you have likely selected a package that includes prints, albums, and/or digital files of your images. We will go over your images together, and then I help you choose the images that will be going home with you- YASSS!

Overall, Boudoir photography is a wonderful way to celebrate your body and create lasting memories that can be cherished forEVER! Yes, girl! For life!!
